We're hiring a Food Truck Assistant Manager to help us run Sofi's Mini Donuts at festivals, fairs, and special events across Central Ohio. This is a step up from our Festival Crew role: you'll learn every part of operating the food truck, trailer, and tent — and eventually be able to build out and shut down an event on your own.

This role starts as a 1099 contractor through a working test period. Once we know we're a great fit on both sides, the role moves to W-2 part-time with a clear path to full-time and eventual promotion to Food Truck Manager.

Sofi's Mini Donuts is a family-owned business that serves hot, fresh-made mini donuts. We bring a warm, family-style atmosphere to every event we work.

What you'll do

  • Everything our Festival Crew does — making donuts, taking orders, handling cash and card, keeping the line moving
  • Learn every part of operating the food truck, trailer, and tent setup
  • Drive the food truck and/or the truck with trailer to event sites
  • Build out the booth at the start of an event and shut it down at the end — eventually on your own
  • Lead and support the festival crew on shift: train new team members, set the pace, keep the energy up
  • Track inventory, restock between events, and flag what we need to reorder
  • Be the on-site point of contact when the owner isn't there

What we offer

  • $17/hour + tips to start — festival tips can be excellent
  • Clear path from contractor to W-2 part-time to full-time, with promotion to Food Truck Manager as the next step
  • Generous employee discounts across all products
  • Cash paid promptly after each event during the contractor period
  • Real leadership experience running a mobile food business — the kind that sticks on a resume
  • Fun, fast-paced environment at some of the best events in Ohio

What we're looking for

  • 18 years or older
  • Valid driver's license — you'll be driving the food truck and/or the truck with trailer to events
  • Weekend availability is our biggest need — most festivals run Friday through Sunday, and shifts on event days can run 8+ hours (often the full festival day)
  • Comfortable working holidays when events are scheduled
  • Comfortable on your feet for long shifts, and OK working outdoors in heat, cold, and occasional rain
  • Reliable, level-headed under pressure, and a natural at organizing other people
  • Some prior food service, retail, or event experience strongly preferred
  • ServSafe or other food safety certifications are a plus, but not required — we'll get you certified
  • English or Spanish speakers welcome — our team is bilingual

The honest version

This isn't a regular weekly job. The hours are long on event days, the weather doesn't always cooperate, and you're the person we lean on when something needs to get done. In exchange, you get real leadership experience, a clear path from contractor to W-2 to manager, and the chance to grow with a family business that's expanding fast.

If you've worked festivals or food service and you've been waiting for the next step, this is it.
